Welcome to this 10-Minute Guided Meditation for Gaining Clarity & Releasing Confirmation Bias
Begin by finding a comfortable seated or lying down position. Let your hands rest gently, close your eyes if you’re comfortable, and take a moment to settle in.
Let’s start by tuning into your breath.
No need to change it — just notice it.
Inhale... and exhale.
Allow your shoulders to soften, your jaw to relax, your eyes to rest.
As you breathe, imagine yourself arriving fully in this moment.
There is nowhere else to be. Nothing else to do.
Just this breath… and the next.
Now, bring your awareness to the mind.
Observe what’s moving through — without judgment.
Thoughts, ideas, opinions, assumptions.
Notice how the mind naturally wants to make meaning, to be right, to confirm what it already knows.
This is the mind doing its job — creating coherence and safety through familiarity.
But today, we’re inviting curiosity.
Instead of asking, “How am I right?”
We ask, “What else might be true?”
Picture your thoughts like leaves floating down a stream.
Each one — a belief, a certainty, a reaction — just passing by.
And now imagine a gentle wind clearing away the filters on your mental lens.
These filters — confirmation bias, assumptions, judgments — soften with each exhale.
With every breath, you release what no longer serves your clarity.
Let go of the need to be right.
Let go of the need to know.
Let yourself enter the space of not knowing — the space of true inquiry.
Now imagine yourself rising up, like a bird gaining altitude.
From this new vantage point, look down at a situation or belief you’ve been holding tightly.
Instead of looking for what proves your position…
Ask: What am I not seeing?
What perspectives have I dismissed?
Who might have wisdom I haven’t considered?
Breathe into this spaciousness — this invitation to expand, not contract.
Now, return gently to your inner self.
Place your attention at the center of your chest — your heart space.
This is where clarity lives.
Not the clarity that clings to certainty, but the clarity that flows from openness, presence, and integrity.
Ask yourself silently:
What do I know deeply — not reactively, but intuitively?
Let the answers come not from your mind, but from your inner knowing.
Trust the wisdom of stillness.
As we near the close of this practice, take three deep, grounding breaths.
Inhale clarity…
Exhale rigidity.
Inhale openness…
Exhale attachment.
Inhale possibility…
Exhale certainty.
Let this feeling of clear presence ripple out into the rest of your day.
May you meet yourself and others with curiosity, compassion, and the courage to see beyond what you expect to find.
When you’re ready, begin to wiggle your fingers and toes.
Gently open your eyes.
And carry this clarity forward with you.
